Cassandra Venaglia is a soprano and composer based in Los Angeles, California.

Venaglia seeks to explore her interest in the female perspective from historical, poetic and personal views through both discursive and linear narratives. Her musical language is comprised of spoken word, counterpoint, theatricality, structure-oriented improvisation, found materials, microtonality, both dense and sparse textures.

Notable and recent performances include: title role 'A Girl' in her self written and produced opera Advice to a Girl, Daphnis et Chloe at Lincoln Center with the NYCB, Oliver Hickman's 5 ee cumming texts song cycle and Music for 18 Musicians with the NYU Contemporary Ensemble, and 2018 album release with co-composer Dante Luna entitled "La Figlia che Piange," The Girl who Cries.

***Former education was received at New York University and California State University of Fullerton with mentors and teachers like Julia Wolfe, Joan La Barbara, Robert Honstein, and Lloyd Rodgers.
